About the app
The Maximal Performance 1RM & Strength Standards app is a free tool that estimates your one-rep maximum across the main barbell lifts and shows you where you rank against strength standards relative to your bodyweight. All calculations happen on your device — no account required, no data collected.
Frequently asked questions
How is my 1RM calculated?
The app uses the Epley formula: 1RM = weight × (1 + reps / 30). This is one of the most widely used and validated formulas for estimating a one-rep maximum from a submaximal set. Results are most accurate when using a weight you can lift for 3–10 reps — estimates become less reliable above 12 reps.
Which lifts does the app cover?
The app covers the five main barbell lifts: squat, bench press, deadlift, overhead press, and barbell row.
Where do the strength standards come from?
Standards are based on widely referenced bodyweight-relative benchmarks used across the strength training community (sources include ExRx and Symmetric Strength data). They are divided into five levels: beginner, novice, intermediate, advanced, and elite. These are general benchmarks intended as a guide — individual variation in leverages, training history, and equipment will affect your numbers.
My estimated 1RM seems off — why?
1RM formulas are estimates, not exact measurements. Factors like fatigue, technique, rep speed, and individual neuromuscular efficiency all affect the accuracy. For the most accurate result, use a weight you fail or nearly fail at 3–5 reps under controlled conditions. The only way to know your true 1RM is to test it directly.
Does the app save my data?
Any lift data you enter is stored locally on your device only. The app does not collect, transmit, or store any personal information on external servers. Deleting the app removes all locally stored data.
Do I need an account to use the app?
No account is required. Open the app, enter your lifts, and get your results immediately.
